ADSL2+ (UP TO 20MB)

From June 2009 BT Business will start to roll out Next Generation Broadband (ADSL 2+) which will provide new and existing BT Business Total Broadband customers with download speeds of up to 20Mb. Even faster broadband speeds mean you will be able to download files and emails in seconds!

The great news is that BT Business Total Broadband customers in enabled exchange areas will be able to get the up to 20Mb service at no additional cost, as we are committed to providing the best value broadband packages for our customers.

A faster service means no more waiting around for complex web pages to download and large files to upload. A better connection will let you get what you need in a fraction of the time.

When can I get up to 20Mb?

We are upgrading our telephone exchanges to provide up to 20Mb broadband now. When you can get it will depend on when your local exchange is upgraded. Hundreds of exchanges are already upgraded to deliver the service and 60% of the UK will be enabled by April 2010.

What speed can I expect to get?

Up to 20Mb broadband runs over your existing copper telephone line so the actual speed you get is dependent on several factors; the biggest of these is how far you live from your exchange. We are already compliant with the Ofcom Code of Practice on Broadband Speed so we always tell our customers what speeds they can expect.

The technical maximum speed of our next-generation broadband service is 24Mb. However from our tests we've found only a tiny number of customers actually get 24Mb. This is why BT Business has decided to quote a more realistic maximum of up to 20Mb. It's important to remember that other ADSL broadband providers are affected by the same factors that dictate broadband speed.

How much will up to 20Mb cost?

FIBRE TO THE CABINET (UP TO 40MB)

BT has committed to invest £1.5bn in the deployment of super-fast broadband across the UK delivered over fibre to the cabinet technology. This will allow customers to benefit from broadband speed of up to 40Mb download and up to 2Mb upload speed which is roughly double the speed provided by ADSL 2+.
